Cyclists, others traveling across campus urged to be predictable, visible

As the number of cyclists and others traveling across Penn State campuses continues to grow, University Police and Public Safety, Transportation Services, and the University as a whole remain committed to the safety of all, regardless of their means of travel. When bicycling or using any other personal mobility device, all are reminded of the following essential safety reminders based on recommendations from the League of America Bicyclists.

UPPS reminds community of required 911 addressing for mail service

In January 2024, University Police and Public Safety announced the completion of a 911 addressing project, which resulted in the re-addressing of all buildings at University Park and 21 of Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses. All faculty, staff and students are reminded that these new addresses for mailing are now in effect.

New Clery Act amendments require reporting of hazing incidents

Penn State has begun including hazing incidents in the University’s crime and safety notifications as part of newly enacted amendments to the Clery Act, in accordance with federal requirements.

Run, Hide, Fight: Community reminded of action steps if faced with a threat

Based on the Run, Hide, Fight model developed by the city of Houston, Texas, Penn State’s Active Attacker Response Program offers the same three action steps if confronted with an active assailant, making it easy to remember and act upon in an emergency: run if you can, hide if you can’t, and fight if you have to.

Penn State community reminded to sign up for PSUAlert texts and voice calls

Penn State students and employees can sign up to receive PSUAlerts by text message or phone call at psualert.psu.edu. Alerts also are now available online.
